The occupational therapy off road assessment is a comprehensive information gathering session where the focus is to develop an understanding about;

  • The client's current and previous driving history, Medication,

  • Physical screening  (for example, strength, sensation and range of motion), and coordination, Vision and hearing screening,

  • Cognitive screening,

  • Road law and road craft screening assessment.

 

The On Road driving assessment is conducted in consultation with a licenced and register Driving instructor in a vehicle with dual controls. The selection of the Driving instructors vehicles is made to meet the needs of the client and is either a large or small vehicle, which is either an automatic or manual.

 

The on road assessment extends for 45 minutes (approximately) and immediate feedback is provided to the client; upon completion.
The necessary report is completed the same day and forwarded electronically to Vic Roads or Roads and Maritime Services. A copy of the report is provided to the client, as well as the medical practitioner / allied health professional as approved by the client.

 

When required, an on road reassessment occurs to review the benefits of driving lessons / driver rehabilitation program as completed by the client in consultation with a licenced driving instructor. Immediate feedback is provided to the client and the necessary report is completed and sent to VicRoads or Roads and Maritime Services the same day.
